Zum Bauen von Modern Decks sind alle Karten seit der Einführung des neuen Kartenrahmens legal, welche in regulären, standardlegalen Editionen* ab der 8ten erschienen sind. Aktuell sind das (Stand 02/2022):
Die Coresets: Eighth Edition, Ninth Edition, Tenth Edition, Magic 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, Magic Origins, M19, M20, M21.
Die Blöcke bzw. Sets: Mirrodin, Kamigawa, Ravnica: City of Guilds, Time Spiral, Lorwyn, Shadowmoor, Shards of Alara, Zendikar, Scars of Mirrodin, Innistrad, Return to Ravinca, Theros, Khans of Tarkir, Battle for Zendikar, Shadows over Innistrad, Kaladesh, Amonkhet, Ixalan, Dominaria, Guilds of Ravnica, Ravnica Allegiance, War of the Spark, Throne of Eldraine, Theros Beyond Death, Ikoria, Zendikar Rising, Kaldheim, Strixhaven: School of Mages, Adventures in the Forgotten Realms, Innistrad: Midnight Hunt, Innistrad: Crimson Vow, Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty
Die Sondereditionen: Modern Horizons, Modern Horizons 2 (Diese Sets sind bisher die einzigen, welche Karten enthalten, die Modern-legal sind, aber niemals im Standard legal waren).
*Legal sind nicht automatisch, trotz neuen Kartenrahmens: Zusatzprodukte wie die Commander-Decks, Arch Enemy, Planechase, From the Vault, die Duel Decks, Conspiracy, Secret Lairs, andere Masters-Sets (Eternal Masters, Masters 25, Iconic Masters, etc.) oder die Masterpieces, Mystical Archives, "The List" und sämtliche Promos. Dies betrifft natürlich nur Karten, die ansonsten in keiner modernlegalen Edition erschienen sind (z.B. Baleful Strix).
