As far as i know you first sacrifice shambling shell then the +1+1 counter effect resolves.
Am i right?
May i have nether traitor coming back from the graveyard caused by sacrificing shambling shell and then put a +1+1 counter on it?
Hope somebody can help.

You have to declare a legal target when activating an ability / casting a spell even before paying costs (sacrificing the shell, in this case).
You can't put the counter onto the traitor.
