Also etwas in Richtung einer Meisterschaft, o.ä. würde sicher großen Anklang finden.

Moin moin,

mit meiner 2. RPTQ Top 4 in Folge darf ich wieder zur Pro Tour,

der Bericht ist auf Englisch, weil er für Reddit geschrieben wurde, hoffe das stört nicht allzusehr.

(Siehe wenig BD, viel GS.)

Hier der Bericht:

I´m not very familiar with Modern, but when I play it i usually borrow Infect from a friend. I also think it is the best deck in modern currently. The tournament had 75 players and was in Köln (Germany). The day prior to the RPTQ I drove with a friend who also qualified from my hometown around 4 hours to Köln where I have relatives so we could theorycraft the Abzan-Deck of my friend and get some rest before attending the tournament on Sunday 11th.

The list:

MAINDECK (60):
2 Breeding Pool
2 Forest
4 Inkmoth Nexus
2 Pendelhaven
3 Misty Rainforest
3 Windswept Heath
3 Wooded Foothills

4 Blighted Agent
4 Glistener Elf
4 Noble Hierarch

4 Become Immense
4 Gitaxian Probe
4 Groundswell
4 Might of Old Krosa
4 Mutagenic Growth
4 Vines of Vastwood
1 Distortion Strike
1 Spell Pierce
1 Twisted Image
1 Dismember
1 Blossoming Defense

SIDEBOARD (15):
1 Seal of Primordium
1 Dryad Arbor
3 Ravenous Trap
2 Nature's Claim
1 Distortion Strike
1 Viridian Corrupter
2 Spell Pierce
2 Dismember
2 Twisted Image

Thoughts about the deck:

It´s nearly the same list Owen Turtenwald posted a few weeks ago and I think the setup is pretty good in the current state of Modern, my swap were 3 Trap instead of the 3 Cages, because of their higher power against Dredge and 2 Natural State got cut for 2 Natures Claim, because I thought the upside was more relevant then giving no life to my opponents. Because I didn´t made any notes I´m trying to remember the games now, while writing this tournament record.

The tournament:

Round 1 (against Infect):

The mirror is one matchup, with which I´m quite familiar, so I felt pretty confident going into this round. Opponent was from near my hometown, so I knew him a bit, but didn´t know what he was playing going into the round.
Game 1 I was on the Draw, having a quite creature-heavy hand leading to trading of creatures, because of both of us drawing no Agents and him dying running out of creatures (and inkmoths). The game revolved around me playing 2 Glistener Elf on Turn 2, which resulted in him not being able to threaten 2 turn lethal with his Nexus, because i saw his hand of multiple +4/+4 spells but no growth or become immense.
Game 2 was pretty simillar and ended in a nearly identical way, because I drew a lot more sideboardcards then my opponent did. My sideboardplan was going very interactive, didn´t miss spellpierce tho. (2-0)
SB: + Seal of Primordium, Dryad Arbor, 2 Nature's Claim, Viridian Corrupter, 2 Spell Pierce, 2 Twisted Image, 2 Dismember; - 4 Mutagenic Growth, 4 Groundswell, 1 Distortion Strike, 2 Might of Old Krosa
(1-0)
Round 2 (against Soulsisters):

Game 1: While I think this i a favorable Match-Up for the Infect side, my opponent "got me" by casting Runed Halo on my Blighted Agent, followed by GQ´ing my Inkmoth, which left me creatureless, dying to Serra Ascendant beatdown.
Game 2: My opponent showed me a neat redsplash out of his SB (I guess), which promptly lead to Sudden Shocking one of my Guys, but being on the Play I had enough creatures with evasion to kill him quite fast.
Game 3: My hand consisted on Mull6 with 2 Inkmoth and no further lands, scrying to the bottom I hit no green source until turn 3, followed by a Blood Moon (I didn´t saw before) from my opponent, so I died, casted 1 spell the game. (1-2)
SB: + 2 Natures Claim, 1 Distortion Strike; - Dismember, Twisted Image, Spell Pierce
(1-1)
Round 3 (Bant Eldrazi):

Game 1 & 2: This was fast, I Twisted Image his first turn Noble Hierach both games and he died not being able to cast any Eldrazi-Spells. Also I were able to navigate through EE and PtE in the second game by forcing him to EE my 2 Elves and having Blossoming Defense for protecting my Inkmoth from his Path. (2-0)
SB: + 2 Twisted Image, 2 Dismember; - Spell Pierce, Distortion Strike, Groundswell
(2-1)
Round 4 (UR Tron(??)):

Game 1: The only spell my opponent casts this game is Izzet Signet, not much to tell.
Game 2: Both mull to 6, he scries to the top, leading of with a land. My turn is Gitaxian Probe seeing 3 Lands (only one kind of Tron-Piece, Emrakul the Aeons Torn, Condescend) into Glistener Elf. He plays land and passes, so I try Might of Old Krosa on my guy which he sponds to with a timely Sudden Shock, so I play Noble Hierach and Inkmoth and kill him next turn with Mutagenic Growth + Become Immense, because I was able to pay his Condescend. (2-0)
SB: + 2 Natures Claim, Viridian Corrupter, Seal of Primordium; - Dismember, Twisted Image, Spell Pierce, Distortion Strike
(3-1)
Round 5 (RGw Titanbreach):

Game 1 I dismember him while he is doing some ramping, not interacting at all.
Game 2 he has Chalice 1 on Turn 2, into open Anger (which he doesn´t play), into Nahiri, I die casting 1 Blighted Agent and attacking withInkmoth a few times, with 6 CMC 1 Spells in my hand.
Game 3 I do my usual thing killing him before he can do anything relevant. (2-1)
SB: + 2 Spell Pierce, 1 Viridian Corrupter, 1 Seal of Primordium; - Dismember, Twisted Image, Twisted Image, Groundswell
(4-1)
Round 6 (Affinity):

Game 1: His draw is pretty slow, but I only have Inkmoths as Infect-creatures. In his 3rd Turn he attacks with one of his Vault-Skirges, so he lets himself open to the Dismember I have for his 2nd Vault-Skirge, so he dies to my Inkmoth + pumpspells.
Game 2: He has an okay draw with 2 Signal Pest and a Steel overseer on Turn 2 with myself missing my 2nd Landdrop (having played Noble Turn 1), being forced to play Seal of Primordium to stop him from Turn4ing me, next Turn I draw Inkmoth and can cast Blighted Agent with Twisted Image open. Here I do my biggest mistake this tournament: He casts his last card in hand, a Arcbound-Ravager, which I should´ve responded to with killing one of his Pestermites. I decline to. As he announces combat I realise my mistake, but now I have no choice and have to cast Twisted Image + trade my Agent for a Memnite. But luckily (very indeed) I draw a land which allowes me to go for lethal with my Inkmoth (undeserved). (2-0)
SB: + 2 Natures Claim, Viridian Corrupter, Seal of Primordium, 2 Twisted Image; - Dismember, Distortion Strike, Spell Pierce, 3 Groundswell
(5-1)

Going into round 7 my tiebreakers are the worst among all 5-1´s, so I have to play against one of the two 4-1-1´s.
Round 7 (Bring to Light Scapeshift):

Game 1: I keep a sketchy hand with 2 Inkmoth, 1 Elf, 1 Agent, 1 Vines, 1 Blossoming Defense, 1 Might of old Krosa. I die because I don´t hit the green source until my 4th turn. Way to slow.
Game 2&3: I kill him quite fast through Spell Piercing a Fog in Game 2 (Turn 4) and by him having no Interaction but a Turn 4 kill, but me having a Turn 3 kill (Modern as usual). (2-1)
SB: + 2 Spell Pierce, Viridan Corrupter; - Twisted Image, Dismember, Distortion Strike
(6-1)

As the only one at 6-1 I finish as 1st after Swiss, being on the play in my Quarterfinal, which was crucial.

Quarterfinal (Grixis Control):

This is quite blurry because I was so happy after it was over.
Game 1: I have a creature-heavy draw, which overloads his removal, but he nearly stabilizes through Snapcaster into Kolaghan´s Command to get back Snapcaster, but in one of my last turns (the one before the last) he tries to tap my Inkmoth and bounce his Snapcaster from a flashbacked Cryptic Command, so I can Vines his Snapcaster and he fails to answer my Inkmoth.
Game 2 revolves around me not having Infecters and him being able to chump my Dryad once with Tasigur, with Ancestral Visions resolving afterwards, burying me under removal and Tasigur + Snapcaster beats.
Game 3 my legs are shacking because my starting hand consists of Dryad Arbor, Breeding Pool, Windswepth Heath, Glistener Elf, 2 Groundswell, 1 Mutagenic Growth. I decide to try to go for the Turn 2 kill, because he mulled to 6 and his only Turn 1 answer could be a Lightning Bolt, which he doesn´t have resulting in my first Turn 2 kill with this deck and my 2nd chance to prove myself at the PT. (2-1)
SB: +2 Spell Pierce, Dryad Arbor; - Distortion Strike, Twisted Image, Dismember

Aftermath:

I obviously was quite lucky by hitting only good Match-Ups in the Swiss rounds (and one Mirror) and never having to take a Mulligan below 6, which was a quite big advantage. I´m sorry for most games being short-written and also for not being able to track all the Mulligans I took, but I hope this is interesting for you Spikes. The sideboarding may not be accurate, but I think it should be close enough to what I did.

Also I hope any spelling mistakes, etc. are forgivable, because English is not my native language.

If you have any questions, I´ll try to answer them in the comments.
